Meet VISITOR LX-1

VISITOR LX-1 is the first robot built on the Lumalien platform.

Every component has been tested, redesigned, and documented, then turned into something you can build yourself.

What VISITOR LX-1 does

The platform is built around LumaKit(opens in a new tab) and real robotics hardware.

Raspberry Pi-based control

A Raspberry Pi runs the robot — a real Linux computer you can develop on, not a locked-down toy controller.

Battery monitoring

An onboard battery system powers the Pi, with charge telemetry read directly from the power hardware.

Camera vision

A forward-facing camera mounted in the shell gives VISITOR LX-1 eyes.

Independent motor control

Two independently driven wheels give VISITOR LX-1 differential steering, driven through a dedicated motor controller.

Distance and obstacle sensing

A time-of-flight distance sensor lets VISITOR LX-1 see obstacles ahead of it and drive around them.

Wireless control

Development and control happen over Wi-Fi, so the robot works without a keyboard or monitor attached.

Open-source robotics software

A sense–decide–act control loop with simulation tooling, developed in the open from the start.

Expandable AI capabilities

VISITOR LX-1 is built to connect to open-source AI agent software, so you can teach it new behaviors.
